Good Morning Britain's Kate Garraway asks to borrow money during wage dispute

Good Morning Britain's Kate Garraway asked her co-star for "a fiver" while discussing the sexist wage problem.

The panel was able to reveal women work 54 days for free a year due to wage differences with their male counterparts. Kate Garraway sparked the conversation by saying, "Today is the day we stop working for free," before correcting herself, stating she means women as a community and not herself specifically.

The "pregnancy penalty" was also referenced which sees mothers face difficulties those without children do not, including workplace benefits, career progression, and strained maternity pay.

The team said the government were not doing everything in their power to cut down on wage inequalities and supporting women. Attempting to lighten the mood, Kate turned to GMB regular and the Daily Mirror's Associate Editor, Kevin Maguire, and said: "Kevin, do you want to lend me a fiver?"

He laughed off the comment before passing it on to Ben Shephard who said: "I know come November she'll be moaning saying for the rest of the year we don't get paid."

The debate raged on with the panel revealing the stark annual income difference between the sexes. Kate again joked: "Alright, make it a tenner, Kevin."
