Good Morning Britain risks Susanna Reid 'fury' with more on-air blunders

Good Morning Britain suffered another on-air gaffe on Monday, after it was reported the show's host Susanna Reid confronted bosses over 'stupid' blunders.

Presenter Susanna, 52, is reported to have been fuming recently as a number of mistakes "made the show look stupid" and confronted senior executives over the errors.

And just days after Susanna's reported frustration over the errors, the executives risk another confrontation from Susanna over a new gaffe.

On Monday morning, the voiceover introduced the show with a different date to the one which was written on screen.

As the rolling titles began, the voiceover said: "Friday, 3rd of February 2023 live from Television Centre in London, this is Good Morning Britain with Ben Shephard and Susanna Reid."

Susanna is said to have been left unimpressed by a series of mistakes on GMB (ITV)

However, the date on screen read: "Monday 6th February 2023," which was the correct date.

As the titles ended, Susanna and Ben appeared on screen and the pair managed to make light of the error.

Susanna could be heard laughing before greeting viewers and said: "Good Morning Britain, it's just gone six o'clock. Lots of dark news this morning but a light at the end of the tunnel, Ben, because you're here on a Monday morning..."

Ben, 48, then made a dig at the gaffe as he said: "It's confusing everybody quite frankly, me as well," before giving a bemused look to the camera.

"Isn't it just," Susanna said as she continued with her hosting duties.

Meanwhile, a show source has claimed to The Sun the mistake left the duo "stunned" following the string of errors the week before.

The insider said: "Susanna and Ben were stunned, especially after last week’s mishaps.

"To get the date of the show wrong is pretty poor by anybody’s standards — it was the worst possible start to the week."

However, Susanna is said to have let the gaffe "go" with "a few eye rolls".

It comes after claims the programme's presenter Susanna confronted executives following a number of gaffes on the show, including several spelling issues, such as the word "remembering" being spelt incorrectly during a story about a death.

Other instances include the wrong date being shown on screen and also the name of a news correspondent appearing incorrect on a report about the war in Ukraine; Ben Chapman was incorrectly labelled Ben Champan.

Last week, an insider said: "She [Susanna] made her feelings very clear, and confronted the senior executives over it."

It was also claimed Susanna has felt more responsibility to ensure the standards of the show don't slip following the exit of her former co-presenter Piers Morgan in 2021.

And, reports say, Susanna's frustration has led to bosses sending emails out to members of staff.

Susanna has been the lead presenter on GMB since 2014 – with her hosting the programme alongside Piers Morgan from 2015 until his departure in 2021.

He left after storming off set following a row with GMB weatherman Alex Beresford over Meghan Markle's interview with Oprah Winfrey.
