Good Morning Britain is returning to screens after a short break for Christmas but has announced some changes upon its return. The live shows will make a comeback on Wednesday, December 28 with Charlotte Hawkins and Rob Rinder at the helm.
However, when the breakfast show continues on Thursday, December 29, ITV1 viewers will be introduced to a brand new GMB presenter. Gordon Smart will be making his debut alongside Charlotte on Thursday and Friday this week.
The journalist, editor and broadcaster has become a familiar figure in the world of broadcasting, regularly hosting afternoon shows on talkSPORT and BBC Radio Scotland, his own evening show on Radio X and Weekend Breakfast on BBC Radio 5 Live.
He made his name by becoming the youngest editor of The Sun's Bizarre Showbiz column when he was only 26 years old. Voted Showbiz Reporter of The Year in 2012, Gordon was soon appointed editor of The Scottish Sun, the highest-selling newspaper in Scotland and in 2016, Gordon became Deputy Editor of the National Edition.

Gordon said he was "thrilled" to be joining the talented Good Morning Britain line-up. The breakfast show is regularly hosted by Susanna Reid, while Martin Lewis, Richard Madeley, Adil Ray and Ed Balls have all become part of the show's roster of male hosts following the exit of Piers Morgan last year.
Gordon said: "I'm thrilled to be joining the amazing stable of talent, in front and behind the camera, on Good Morning Britain. So many of the issues facing the country right now are close to home and I’m relishing the chance to join the debate."
He also shared the news on Instagram, telling his followers: "Looking forward to making my debut hosting @gmb this Thursday and Friday with @charlottehawkins1 @itv. Told my dad about the new gig and he said “better get a spray tan, son.” Good.
"See you bright and early at 6am, 29th and 30th December. Good Morning Britain!" For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
