Flynn Downes issued a touching farewell message to Swansea City following his transfer to West Ham United.
The midfielder sealed a permanent move to his boyhood club on Thursday evening for an initial fee of £9m, although the deal could be worth up to £14m with add-ons. The switch represents a phenomenal rise for the 23-year-old who was playing League One football with Ipswich Town just over a year ago.
And following confirmation of his move to the London Stadium, Downes thanked the Swans for their role in his development.

Swansea's official account wrote on social media: "Swansea City midfielder @flynn_downes has joined @westham for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance. Thank you for everything and all the best, Flynn."
Downes responded: "Can’t thank you enough for everything. Gonna miss ya’s. Once a Jack, always a Jack. #YJB." (sic)
The Englishman was a pivotal figure under Russell Martin last season, featuring 39 times in all competitions, scoring one goal. He was also made captain for the FA Cup third round clash with Southampton in January. His exit paves the way for Joe Allen to return to Swansea.
Speaking about his move to London, Downes said: “Players have come to West Ham from the Championship and progressed to international honours. That’s something you can’t ignore. The manager’s track record of bringing players through was a big motivation in me joining the club.
“I’m so grateful for the opportunity to be a West Ham player.”
