This year's Golden Globes returned with an in-person ceremony after last year's event was scaled-back by organisers. There was no red carpet, or star-studded audience and the ceremony was held in private.
NBC also refused to broadcast last year's event following controversy over a lack of diversity within the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) - which is responsible for the awards.
The organisation said it would work to address the issue, with NBC agreeing to air the 80th annual event under a one-year contract.
Colin Firth, Taron Egerton and Andrew Garfield are some of the big names up for an award at this year's ceremony.
The trio are up for best actor in a limited series, anthology series or television motion picture.
Other big name nominations include Donald Glover, Domhnall Gleeson, Paul Walter Hauser, Richard Jenkins, Jeremy Allen White and Seth Rogen.
Rihanna could end up going home with her first-ever Golden Globe Award, but she faces some stiff competition from Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga as they battle it out in the category of best original song.
