Golden Globe viewers in stitches over Milly Alcock's 'drunken' antics on stage

House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock looked absolutely stunning at the Golden Globe Awards, which took place in Beverly Hills on Tuesday (January 11) – but that's not why everyone is talking about the 22-year-old.

The Australian actress, who stars in the critically acclaimed Game of Thrones prequel, was clearly celebrating the programme's big win in the best television drama category.

When Milly, who plays a young Rhaenyra Targaryen in the series, took to the stage to accept the award along with Emma D'Arcy, who plays the adult Rhaenyra, and co-creator of the HBO show Miguel Sapochnik, the actress had viewers in stitches.

When Miguel was making his House of the Dragon acceptance speech, one fan zoomed in on the young actress, who was gripping onto her co-star and appeared incredibly giddy.

In the video clip, which was shared on Twitter, Milly could be seen giggling and looking very glassy-eyed.

One fan said: "Poor girl's trying so hard to keep it together but you know she wants to cause some drunken chaos here."

"Relatable. I also touch my face a lot when I'm drunk," tweeted another.

Another said: "She's so real. I'd be deep with that champagne."

"Holding onto Emma for dear life!," said another.

A fifth person tweeted: "Milly so drunk at the Golden Globes and not even hiding it. I'm crying!"

Milly had clearly let her hair down after the huge win, and she was able to see the funny side the next morning.

She retweeted a picture of herself, Emma and Miguel accepting the award, and wrote: "Ummmm," over it, without explaining further. Milly then reposted a video clip of herself on stage.

The Sydney-actress looked amazing on the red carpet in a figure-hugging black gown with silver embellishments and a plunging neckline.

Milly enjoyed incredible success on the House of the Dragon series, despite never having seen Game of Thrones before.

She later spoke about the "internalised misogyny" that her character had to face. Speaking about the huge fandom, she said in an interview with Nylon: "But what I found quite hilarious is that the fanbase is also putting the actors, the young Alicent and the young Rhaenyra at odds with each other, and choosing who's better, also by decision of mostly men. So I think that it's really just f****ng ironic."

Milly has said she was "grateful" for the freedom the role had given her for future projects, and would be steering away from similar work.
