CHANDIGARH: Diamond and gold jewellery worth lakhs of rupees were stolen from a house in Sector 8. Owner Sandeep Kalia, employed in an insurance company in Sector 34, said the theft came to light on June 7, when his wife looked for her jewellery in an almirah as they were about to leave for dinner.
He alleged three diamond rings, four gold rings, two pairs of gold earrings, two pairs of diamond tops, two gold chains, a gold locket, a gold mangalsutra, a gold chain set and four silver bowls were missing.
He alleged two women claiming to be maids visited his house on June 6. He said they had come as their help had gone to her native place in Lucknow on June 3. Police registered a case.
