Gogglebox favourites Marcus Luther and Mica Ven have announced they’ve quit the Channel 4 show after five years.
The London based couple made their debut in 2017, but are bidding adieu to the BAFTA-winning series to pursue other projects.
Professional boxing trainer Marcus confirmed the news on Instagram on Monday and said it was “time to put down the remote”.
He wrote: “We just want to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU to @c4Gogglebox for having us for the last 5 years, even though we had to travel so far for filming (downstairs & through the corridor) it was so worth it, it’s been an epic journey! You guys are the bestest of the best.
“We’ve had so much fun with you all tuning in at home and the hardworking Gogglebox crew but it’s time to put down the remote and see what else God has in store for us.
“To everyone that has tuned in & sent us messages of love and encouragement over the years, we appreciate every last one of you. Thank you so much.”
The TV star added: “To the amazing cast, you’ll forever be our G’box brothers & sisters 4life.
“And lastly, To all our Yardie friends & family that always big us up to whoever will listen, when you’re chatting about our departure, the program’s called GOGGLEBOX not GOOOOOGLEbox, it’s not a dam search engine.”
Following their social media announcement, Marcus’ post was flooded with messages from Gogglebox viewers and some from their fellow Channel 4 cast.
Gogglebox star Twaine Plummer penned: “All the best in the future” while Izzi Warner commented: “We’ll miss you both.”
The couple have been firm favourites on the series since 2017 and were occasionally joined on the sofa by Mica’s two daughters, Sachelle and Shuggy.
Previously, Marcus discussed his aversion to the notoriety the show brought and said that he disliked being recognised by members of the public.
He told Heat: “I avoid being recognised like the plague.
“I’ll have my mask and a hat on and people will still say, ‘Look at the eyes, it’s Marcus from Gogglebox!’ And I’m like, ‘For f***’s sake!’”
