Gogglebox star Sid Siddiqui slams NHS as he 'doesn't feel safe'

Sid Siddiqui has slammed the NHS after candidly sharing that he "doesn't feel safe". The Gogglebox star has received a raft of support from fans of the show following his admission.

The Siddiquis have been fan favourites on Gogglebox since it launched in 2013, with Baasit and Umar joining their retired engineer dad on the couch. The third brother, Zara also often puts in an appearance.

The 75-year-old is not as prolific on social media as other Gogglebox stars, but on Thursday he took to Twitter to share something he had experienced.

He said: "This morning I waited 1 hour 55 mins in a telephone queue at my GP surgery, only to be told there are no appointments left for the day and I should start again tomorrow at 8.

"I don’t feel safe and protected under NHS anymore".

Responding to his tweet, Jessica said: "I'm sorry, Sid. Thank you for making it public".

Wendy said: "My doctors are in the same city. Sid, if you're registered for online services then check just after midnight when they release the appointments.

"I agree it's getting really bad. Take care xxx".

Bob said: "It is utterly unacceptable and dangerous. Have to feel for the GPs too - massively increased doctor-patient ratios, a shortage of GPs especially in rural areas... it goes on. It wasn't great but wasn't this bad 13 years ago."
