Gogglebox star Reverend Kate Bottley has announced the death of her mum Magaret. The 47-year-old, from northern Nottinghamshire, took to Twitter last night (January 23) to break the news to followers, and encouraged them to leave prayers.
"She really was a smasher," she wrote, alongside photos of the pair together. "May the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace and rise in glory."
In a follow-up tweet, Kate said: "And we’ll take all the prayers, mass intentions and general positive thoughts we can get, thanks. (Also FYI Dry January is cancelled, she bl**dy loved a Bacardi and Coke)."

Last week, the Gogglebox star said her mum had been in hospital in Sheffield for three weeks. "She’s due home tomorrow. It’s been tricky emotionally as well as physically," she said at the time.

Many people left well wishes for Kate on social media after the announcement of her mum's passing. Labour MP Jess Phillips wrote: "All my love xxxx."
Broadcaster Jason Mohammad said: "I am praying for you and your lovely mum Kate." Actress Kym Marsh added: "Sending lots of love darling xx."
