Gogglebox shows Roar's 'duck sex' scene as cast horrified and viewers predict Ofcom complaints

Gogglebox fans are predicting the Channel 4 show might soon find itself hit by a barrage of Ofcom complaints over a disturbing and very unexpected x-rated scene which played out on this week's show, involving a woman's unlikely romance with a duck

As they do every week, millions of viewers settled down on their own sofas to see the Gogglebox cast give their on couch verdicts to a whole host of shows, which this week ranged from new dating show Romeo & Duet to much talked about John Darwin drama, The Thief, His Wife and The Canoe. And while the latter certainly provoked some strong opinions from the cast, particularly Pete and Sophie, that was nothing compared to the reaction the final show on this week's viewing list received.

In the closing moments of Friday's show, the cast, also including Jenny and Lee, The Malones and Giles and Mary were shown scenes from Roar, the Apple TV series which promises eight standalone stories about “what it means to be a woman today." One of those stories is The Woman Who Was Fed by a Duck, starring Merritt Weaver, a thirty-something sick of being single and lousy potential suitors. Her head is turned in the unlikely direction of a charming mallard duck and what follows is definitely not something you'd expect to see on TV.

Gogglebox showed a series of clips from the show, including actress Merritt stripping off to enjoy a romantic bath with the duck before he then, as many of the cast and viewers at home looked on in horror, performed a sex act on her. The gasps in the living rooms of the cast were echoed around the country.

One viewer, predicting broadcasting regulator Ofcom might soon be involved, took to Twitter to post: "What an earth was the show at the end of #Gogglebox tonight, I wish they would stop showing these things they could have at least done Doctor Who, I do hope that @Ofcom were watching."

Equally taken aback, another fan of the show tweeted: "What kind of sick person came up with the concept of that duck programme on the end of #Gogglebox." And a third reacted: "Wow, WTF his happening with this duck, mind blown, I'm mentally scarred."
