Gogglebox's Tom Malone sparks concern after doctors tell him to make 'lifestyle changes'

Tom Malone senior has sparked concern among Gogglebox fans after he appeared on TV sporting an injury and his right arm in a blue cast.

One of the most popular characters on the Channel 4 show said doctors have advised him to make "lifestyle changes" as he looks to recuperate.

Tom, who appears on screen with his wife Julie and children Vanessa and Shaun, was pleased to announce there is "definitely no housework" for him in the coming weeks.

Speaking to Julie, Tom shared details with viewers about what had happened to his arm.

He said: "Got to rest this a bit now Julie. Take it easy. I can’t be doing any housework or heavy lifting, they said that to me. Definitely no housework, rest my arm.”

Tom continued: “She said: ‘You should take it easy, make sure you get looked after,’ that sort of thing.”

Julie felt that Tom wasn't doing too badly before his injury and quipped: “Didn’t you tell her that you get looked after anyway, regardless of your arm? You get cups of coffee whenever you want, you get your meals brought in on a tray.”

Even so, Tom said that he was an "injured puppy" as he sat opposite his wife on the sofa, and joked that he “needed looking after” and was going to “sit here and watch telly”.

Julie was having none of it and joked that this was Tom's "usual" hobby but her husband claimed that doctors had urged him to make "lifestyle changes”.

Despite the joviality, fans of Gogglebox were still concerned as to what had happened to Tom and took to Twitter to speculate about how he got his injury.

One concerned fan tweeted: “Oh my God, what happened to Tom’s arm?”

Another compared him to Napoleon before urging Tom to "take it easy".
