Gogglebox's Stephen explains why dog Princess is in a child's buggy

Dogs are a regular feature on Channel 4's Gogglebox with the families regularly showing off their favourite pets. But this week one of the couples revealed their dog was being pushed around in an unusual manner.

Stephen and Daniel are regulars on the show and their pet poodles are often shown in the couple's home. But tonight (Friday, April 8), Princess was shown to be sitting in a child's buggy, much to the couple's amusement.

Stephen revealed he had been taking Princess out for walks in the buggy. The elderly dog needed the extra assistance due to having a bad back, but not everyone was aware that the pram contained a dog.

The odd situation led Daniel to wonder what had happened on Stephen and Princess's walk. He asked: "Did you bump into anyone?"

To which Stephen replied: "Yeah, everyone was stopping me and asking, 'oh what's happened?' I said, 'oh she's just getting a bit old and she's got backache at the moment so we're pushing her everywhere at the moment.'"

Speaking directly to the dog Stephen added: "And you love it didn't you?."

However, it did sound like Stephen had some awkward encounters. Especially when he bumped into mums pushing their children in buggies of their own.

"I was coming along other people with buggies, like proper mummies with babies in theirs. And I was going, 'hi, you alright?'

"And they'd ask 'how old is yours?' And I'd say 13."

While Stephen's interactions with Princess and the buggy were definitely funny, some viewers thought the idea was genius. One viewer even said they would like to give it a go with their own dog.

Taking to Twitter, Elizabeth Scott (@suzysasha) said: "I like Stephens dog buggy. My dog is 14 and has arthritis on her back knee but loves to go out. I'd love one for her but I worry what people would think.

"A lot of people judge and just assume all dogs are young and healthy. Even old or ill dogs get bored and like to get out."
