Gogglebox's Pete Sandiford under fire as he blasts Sophie's new boyfriend for 'lying'

Gogglebox's Pete Sandiford was under fire from viewers after he blasted Sophie's new boyfriend.

The reality TV stars invited fans into their home for the latest edition of the popular Channel 4 programme. The armchair critics provided hilarious observations on the week's best TV including shows such as Britain's Got Talent and Bridgerton.

Sophie sparked rumours she was dating someone last weekend when she shared a snap on Instagram with a mystery new man. They were pictured with Pete and his wife Paige Yeoman and fans questioned whether he could be her boyfriend.

Pete and Sophie confirmed the rumours on tonight's episode as he asked Sophie how the relationship is going. She responded: "Really good yeah. I've snared myself a hunk."

Pete recalled his first encounter with Sophie's new man and blasted him for lying about his height. He joked: "I don't think he's six foot. He doesn't look six foot. Lies, already built on lies, oh dear."

Sophie hit back at the claims and insisted Pete was "jealous" because her new man makes him "look like one of the borrowers". Viewers following the show on Twitter were in hysterics at the exchange and agreed with Sophie's claim.

Lee said: "Pete a bit too jealous of his sister’s new boyfriend there"

Beckie added: "Pete’s jealousy getting the better of him"

Gavin commented: "Smell a hint of jealousy from Pete towards Sophie"

Gogglebox airs Friday at 9pm on Channel 4
