Gogglebox's Pete Sandiford 'fractures skull' trying to crack Easter egg

Chocolate Easter eggs are a treat indeed. But when the chocolate's thick or it's been chilled to perfection, cracking the sweet shell into manageable pieces can occasionally be less than straightforward.

So Gogglebox's Pete Sandiford left his sister Sophie in stitches when he demonstrated how to open an Easter egg - in a rather drastic way. In Friday's (April 15) edition of the Channel 4 programme, the Blackpool pair were shown sitting in front of the TV with two tempting-looking eggs wrapped in gold-coloured foil.

Pete said to Sophie: "Did you know that the way to open an Easter egg is to smash it off your head?"

To which Sophie replied: "Does it not hurt though?"

"You just hit the pointy bit off your head," said Pete, adding: "Watch this."

He then bashed his egg forcefully on his forehead, causing him to wince and collapse into giggles - as the egg didn't appear to have broken one bit. Sophie was also left crying with laughter, and said: "I think I've got a fractured skull just from watching you."

Viewers at home found Pete's efforts amusing too judging by the comments on Twitter. "Did he just do what I think he did... with a chocolate Easter egg," said AkqyaB @AkqyaAmore.

Wicked dog @animalmad08 tweeted: "I wish you could hire out Pete and Sophie to watch TV with you."

Mitchell WEBB @MitchellWebb85 said: "Pete Sandiford has to be the most clumsy person ever!"

And Gogglebox's official Twitter account even warned straight afterwards: "Do not try this at home!"

Gogglebox airs at 9pm on Fridays on Channel 4
