Gogglebox viewers were baffled as Phillip Schofield was mentioned at the very start of the latest episode of the show. The armchair critics once again welcomed fans into their homes to provide their observations on the week's best TV.
The first segment on Friday night's show covered This Morning's tribute to Mr Schofield, which aired on Monday's episode, Liverpool Echo reports.
The 61-year-old stepped down from ITV's flagship daytime programme last weekend amid reports an alleged feud with Holly Willoughby reached fever pitch. Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary hosted the first episode of This Morning after Mr Schofield's exit.

Alison started the show with a tribute as she said: "Quite simply, we all know he's one of the best live television broadcasters this country has ever had. We, and all the team, wish him all the best for the future."
Pete Sandiford was confused by the short tribute as he said: "Now we've brushed that under the carpet, let's move on to today's show." Giles Wood was similarly taken aback as he said: "Phil leaving the show is a bit like a glitch in the matrix. No one knows why it's a glitch or what's happened."
However, fans were confused by the opening as there had been a further development earlier on Friday evening as Mr Schofield confirmed he had quit ITV. He told The Daily Mail: "I have therefore decided to step down from the British Soap Awards, my last public commitment, and am resigning from ITV with immediate effect expressing my immense gratitude to them for all the amazing opportunities that they have given me."
In the statement, Mr Schofield admitted to having an affair with a runner who worked on This Morning and apologised for lying to his colleagues about the relationship.
Viewers following the show on Twitter branded the opening to tonight's Gogglebox episode awkward as the latest update was not addressed.
Jayne posted: "Well this is awkward"
Stephanie commented: "Wooah this is awkward"
Gavin said: "great timing"
