Gogglebox's Lee and Jenny confuse viewers as Channel 4 show returns for new series

Gogglebox pair Lee and Jenny had to quickly correct themselves after confusing fans as they got ready to return to screens on the new series.

After a few months break, which saw a number of repeats and celebrity specials air in its place, the much loved show will be back in its usual 9pm slot on Channel 4 on Friday night.

Having become firm favourites with fans over the last few years, Lee and Jenny are back on their sofas to give their opinions on all manner of TV shows, alongside other Gogglebox stars like sisters Ellie and Izzi Warner and siblings Pete and Sophie Sutcliffe.

Lee and Jenny teased their Gogglebox comeback on their joint Instagram page earlier this week, only Lee got his dates mixed up and initially told fans that the new series was started next Friday rather than today, Friday, February 18.

In a clip uploaded to the duo's Insta grid, Lee began: "Hi everybody! As you know Gogglebox is back next Friday," before correcting himself and saying: "No, this Friday, as we have filmed today for this Friday."

After Lee made the correction, Jenny said she was so excited to be part of the new series as she shouted: "We're back!!! Bums on seats!"

She added: "See you on Friday, get the kettle on!"

A teaser for Friday's Gogglebox return revealed that the armchair critics will sit down to watch The Masked Singer, Trigger Point, Pam & Tommy, First Dates: Valentine's, Dancing on Ice, Dragons' Den and Mary Beard's Forgotten Art.

The Malones revealed they'd be back, with a post on their Instagram account reading: "...it will be great to be back filming again this Sunday with our brilliant crew. Gogglebox is back Friday 18th"
