Gogglebox’s Dave and Shirley Griffiths have shared their holiday hell after a break in Spain turned into a “shambles”.
The Welsh couple, who have appeared on the Channel 4 show since 2015, jetted off on holiday late last month, and have been sharing pictures on social media of their getaway in Salou, on the Costa Dorada, Spain.
However, Dave took to Twitter after he and Shirley suffered a series of problems at their hotel, and complained directly to holiday firm TUI when they discovered there was no running water.
“@TUIUK what's happening at the hotel h10 vintage Salou all the electricity is off no water no toilets no food, can't even flush the toilet rep doesn't have no idea it's a shambles its been off since 2 o clock this afternoon now 11.30 and still not sorted,” he fumed.
TUI responded to the couple 24 hours later in a tweet which read: “Hi Dave, I am sorry to hear there is an issue in resort. As you are in resort we are unable to assist further and would direct you to call our 24/7 holiday line who will be able to advise further. The number is +44 (0) 3333 365147. Thank you, ^Tamara“.
Other guests reported similar issues at the H10 Vintage hotel in Salou, according to Express.co.uk, and another holidaymaker shared her concern over the ongoing situation.
“Not good at all! A lot of unhappy campers here tonight,” she tweeted in reply to Dave.
A TUI spokesperson commented on the problems faced by Dave and Shirley at the hotel, and said “all facilities are now operating as normal”.
“We completely understand how frustrating a short power outage can be and would like to apologise to those customers impacted at the H10 Mediterranean Village in Spain. Our TUI team contacted all customers staying at the hotel once the power was restored to offer a gesture of goodwill,” they added.
Fans of the beloved Welsh couple offered their well wishes last month, as they traded in their comfy sofa in the town of Caerphilly in Wales for sun and sand in Spain.
“Happy holidays everyone cheers,” he captioned a snap of him and Shirley enjoying a drink in the sunshine.
“Happy holidays. Our family love you both,” one commented.
“Happy holidays. Enjoy your break,” another added.
