Channel 4's popular Friday night programme Gogglebox has been hit with more than 100 Ofcom complaints after showing a 'shocking' X-rated duck scene. The moment not only left the show's cast outraged but viewers took to Twitter saying they were 'traumatised'.
In total 149 complaints were sent in by viewers following the scene broadcast on Friday, April 22, the Daily Star reports. The clip was taken from the new Apple TV series Roar, which is based on a book of short stories by Cecelia Ahern. The regular Gogglebox cast members watched 'The Woman Who Was Fed By A Duck' starring actress Merritt Wever, which showed a woman form a romantic relationship with a duck.
But later on in the episode, the woman was shown sharing an intimate moment with the duck and the Goggleboxers watched on in complete shock. Some chose to look away from the screen while others were left speechless. Mary Killen even told her partner Giles it was "the worst programme" she's ever seen.
It wasn't just the usual sofa critics that were gobsmacked by what they had witnessed. Viewers took to Twitter to share their shock at what had just been shown. Viewer Kerri Thorpe tweeted: "#Gogglebox has traumatised me with that duck scene. What the actual f" and Hannah Nugent added: "A bit traumatised by that last part of #gogglebox tonight"
Reiss George added: "Just caught up on last nights #Gogglebox and all I can say is . . . . What the duck?!!!" and Marian Arnold-Lawson said: "Not sure what I've just watched there.....it takes a lot to shock me but... #Gogglebox".
"I'll never look at a duck the same way again #Gogglebox," Tom Murray added whilst another viewer Hannah McGahan said: "Jesus wept I was not expecting that on #Gogglebox with the duck". Jason tweeted: "Still recovering from the repeat of @C4Gogglebox last night. What the duck was that #Roar thing?! Deeply disturbing is the best way to describe it. #Gogglebox".
Gogglebox continues on Fridays on Channel 4 from 9pm.
