Gogglebox fans demand Channel 4 make change to show after 'annoying' episode

Billed as "Britain's sharpest armchair critics", Gogglebox's cast regularly delight and entertain audiences with their strong opinions.

Whether they are watching the latest shows or reacting to the week's biggest news, you know to expect passionate, hopefully funny, responses.

But not all viewers could see the funny side to tonight's episode, which was deemed "too political" by some viewers.

Among the usual selection of the latest TV shows, including Bridgerton and SAS Who Dares Win, came a BBC News clip from Tuesday. Viewers then watched the cast take their turns to react to the news Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak would be fined for breaking lockdown rules.

Several families and pairs then discussed whether or not they believe the Prime Minister should resign.

And fans quickly took to Twitter to vent their frustration at the clips, with some taking issue with cast member's political opinions, and others annoyed politics had been raised in the show at all.

One such viewer, @ejames500 said: "Gogglebox very political really annoying me. Had to turn off!"

@philm2244 felt similarly, writing: "Please don't go all political on us. I watch Gogglebox to escape this Boris rubbish."

And @Hyther12 added: "More political narrative from channel 4, give it a rest."

But not everyone felt the same. Viewers who felt differently included @julianhilaire, who suggested people watching at home would say the "same".

One Twitter user called @deadbloke even went so far as to say Gogglebox offers the "best political insight on TV".
