A GoFundMe has been launched by the brother of a young GAA player who suddenly passed away in January.
Brendan Vesey, who organised the GoFundMe for his brother Liam, will be doing one week of the Camino trail in Spain with friend Liam Coll to raise funds for SOSAD, a charity that works to raise awareness and help prevent suicide in Ireland.
So far the GoFundMe has exceeded the initial goal of €500, having raised a whopping €18,063 for the pair to travel to Spain, where they will walk 25+ kilometres a day to help bring in funds for the charity which is close to Brendan’s heart.

Liam Vesey, who passed away on January 8, came from a large family of one sister and seven brothers. Liam was also a member of the Belturbet Rory O'Moore's GAA club, with the club paying respect to their “dear friend and teammate” following his tragic passing.
In a post on the GoFundMe page, Brendan wrote: “As most of you are aware I sadly lost my brother Liam to suicide on the 8 of January.
“I'm trying to raise awareness and money for SOSAD (Cavan), a charity close to my heart that works daily to help support families impacted by suicide and so much more.
“My friend Liam Coll and I will be doing a week of the Camino trail in Spain, walking 20/25+ kilometres daily to help raise funds for this amazing charity. Any donations are welcome, as every little helps.”
