God of War Ragnarok features several new and returning mythological enemies. These will pose challenges for Kratos and his son Atreus.
One of the bosses that players can challenge in God of War Ragnarok is the Frost Ancient. This particular foe takes advantage of the cold to freeze its enemies. This guide will help players learn how to encounter this boss and how they can beat it.
Frost Ancient Boss Fight
The first thing you should know about the Frost Ancient is that it is one of the enemies you will face during the Unlocking the Mask quest. The fight with this particular boss is similar to other Ancients that you have already encountered.
However, one of the main differences is the narrow shape of the battlefield that you have to fight in. Furthermore, the Frost Ancient will spawn lesser enemies which can make the battle surprisingly more difficult, according to Push Square.
In this fight, you should use Block as much as you can as it is particularly useful against the Frost Ancient's attacks. You have to be careful with the boss' icy energy beam that can track your movement.
If you try to get in close, the Frost Ancient will flailabout with attacks that you cannot block, which makes this a relatively bad strategy. When you see the boss start spitting up chunks of ice-infused rock, you should start hitting it with your arrows.
Another key thing about this boss fight is that the Frost Ancient can only be damaged when its chest is exposed. Keep an eye out on the lesser enemies that spawn and try to make use of Ingrid and consistently move around the area to stay away from them, IGN said.
Finishing the Battle
You should prioritize targeting the Frost Ancient's chest whenever it is open and can be seen glowing white. You are accompanied by Thor and Ingrid in this fight and they will deal the bulk of the damage needed to beat the boss.
Another mechanic in this boss fight is the stun meter that, when maxed out, will let you do a combo attack. This gives you a chance to follow up with a series of melee attacks on the Frost Ancient's chest.
Atreus himself does not have a lot of power as his father Kratos does. This means you need to slowly whittle the Frost Ancient boss down bit by bit until Thor steps in to finish the job, according to Dual Shockers.
