The 51-year-old will repose at her brother Sean’s home on Thursday evening from 5pm to 8pm.

Mass will take place at 11am on Friday in St Finbarr and Ronan’s Church in the village, before burial in St Gobnait’s Cemetery in Ballyvourney.

Gobnait was a physiotherapist from the area who lived in Dublin, and was home to pay respects to her uncle Willie who passed away last Friday.

She had attended a gathering at a pub in the village afterwards with her family. The incident occurred while she was walking home at around 1.10am.

Gobnait was pronounced dead at the scene while the two women she was with, in their 40s, were rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

A man in his 40s was arrested and is being currently detained at Bandon Garda Station.

Gobnait had recently graduated from UCD with a Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy and had been working as a caregiver. She comes from a large family who are well known in the area and heavily involved in local GAA.

Her RIP.ie page described her as the “loving partner of Jay, adored daughter of Eibhlís and Johnny, loving sister of Caitriona, Seán, Noel, Ninidh, Rónán, Cathal, Iarlaith, and Ciarán, niece of Willie (recently deceased)".

“Sadly missed by her partner, parents, brothers, sister, extended family, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours, and friends,” it said.

The funeral can be watched live online for those who can’t be there in person.
