KERI/PANJIM: As World Environment Day is being celebrated on June 5 on the theme of living in harmony with nature, Goa has several examples of traditions that have promoted conservation through the ages. Temple tanks and sacred groves are just two such traditional models practised to date across the state and have proven successful conservation models.
The temple tanks in Goa have not only quenched human thirst, but also helped preserve the surrounding ecology, by keeping the temperatures down and supporting wild vegetation.
