The managing director of Go North East and East Yorkshire is set to leave the North East bus operator to take up the top job with a budget train business.
Martijn Gilbert has been appointed the new managing director of Lumo & Hull Trains - owned by transport firm FirstGroup - and will take up the post in September.
He replaces the current managing director of Hull Trains, David Gibson, who is set to leave the business for another job outside of the rail industry and interim managing director of Lumo Phil Cameron who will manage a handover period before returning to his role in First Rail.

Mr Gilbert, who joined Go North East in 2018 and is a board member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, has extensive transport experience having previously served as chief executive officer of Reading Buses and carried out roles at Arriva in its bus and rail divisions.
He said: “I am very excited to be joining the Lumo and Hull Trains team. It’s an honour and a privilege to be asked to lead both the established and well respected Hull Trains and the innovative new Lumo operation.
