GMB viewers urge Susanna Reid to stop ‘banging the drum for war’ during Ukraine coverage

Good Morning Britain viewers had mixed emotions about comments being made on Wednesday's show by host Susanna Reid.

Susanna, 51, was joined by her good friend Rob Rinder in the ITV studio as they continued the coverage of Russia's attack on Ukraine.

The duo invited Defence Secretary Ben Wallace onto the show via video link and were keen to discuss the option of a no-fly zone.

Mother-of-three Susanna asked him: "Why do we not put in a no-fly zone?"

"Well I think first of all, to put in a no fly zone you have to enforce it because the Russians wouldn't comply with it voluntarily," Mr Wallace replied.

"And that would mean British, French, German fighter jets enforcing it by shooting down Russian aircraft. They would retaliate, they've got lots of anti air missiles etc.

"That would trigger a NATO article five and under NATO those countries in NATO will come to the aid of any member who triggers this article five self-defence clause.

"So very rapidly we would go from a war in Ukraine to a war right across Europe and indeed with the United States and Canada as NATO, and a war against Russia as a state.

"Now that is a very difficult fact. I am not deaf or blind to what I am seeing in Ukraine and the passion of the Ukrainians. But that is the reality and Ukraine is not in NATO," Mr Wallace added.

Susanna then fired back: "Can we stomach the level of civilian casualties that we face?" but some GMB viewers were not impressed with her questions.

Taking to Twitter, one person posted: "#GMB So @GMB rhetoric is to drag us into WW3. It has been explained to you that is what a no fly zone will do. @susannareid100 Stop banging the drum for WAR!"

A second viewer tweeted: "When the answer on no fly zones has already been given but they still bang on about them. Ain't gonna happen anytime soon #gmb."

A third person asked: "Does Reid want the UK to declare War with Russia...? #gmb."

Someone else remarked: "@susannareid100 needs to remind herself that journalist’s are supposed to be impartial! #GMB."
