GMB's Richard Madeley would 'put money' on Meghan Markle running for President

Richard Madeley says he would 'put money' on Meghan Markle running for President of the USA.

The Good Morning Britain presenter chatted about The Duchess of Sussex after a clip was screened showing her being welcomed to the Democratic Party by Joe Biden's sister and close adviser, Valerie.

The question arose if Meghan was now considering a career in politics.

Richard asked ITV News Royal Editor Chris Ship: "What do you make of Biden’s sister, who’s also his campaign manager, saying quite openly and quite confidently that Meghan would be very good presidential material?"

Chris responded: "I have always thought that at some point Meghan would possibly go down the political route. It was always a question for me of when she would do that. 2024, 2028, feels a bit too soon, but at some point in the future."

Co-host Susanna Reid volunteered: "Well his sister says that Joe Biden himself will run again. So presumably they’re not proposing that Meghan is a candidate to run as a rival to Joe Biden in the next election? But after that…"

And Chris agreed: "I’ve always thought it was going to come at some point, I’m not saying it will, but it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest."

Richard then said: "I would put money on it."

He later added: "Well you can see her positioning herself can’t you? It’s transparent."

Susanna also reminded everyone that President Ronald Reagan was a former actor, while Donald Trump also appeared on TV.

During this morning's show Richard also commented on Prince Harry's latest advert for sustainable travel which sees him take on an acting role.

He said: "This Prince Harry video. Shall we see a bit more? This is not going to get him a Bafta."
