GMB's Kate Garraway 'condemned' by Dominic Raab in fraught clash as viewers back her

Dominic Raab seemed far from impressed by Kate Garraway's line of questioning as she addressed 'bullying' accusations against him during his appearance on Friday's Good Morning Britain, but viewers were quick to back the host.

Deputy PM and Justice Secretary Raab joined Kate and her GMB colleague Ben Shephard to discuss government plans which would see killers with a history of coercive or controlling behaviour against their victims face tougher sentences. However, not ignoring the 'elephant in the room,' Kate soon put him on the spot about the bullying allegations surrounding him, with him being probed over eight formal complaints involving at least 24 staff during his time as a senior minister.

After letting Raab speak on the tougher sentences, Kate remarked that it must be 'challenging,' given the investigation surrounding him, remarking that accusers claim to have been 'reduced tears' and adding: "They accuse you of coercive behaviour, the very language some of these laws you’re tackling – it must make it very challenging for you.’

Quick to fire back a defiant response, Raab responded: "Can I just say, any equivalence being suggested by you or anyone else between the kind of murder cases we’re talking about, and anything I’ve been accused of, let alone doing, is frankly pretty unconscionable.’

As Kate tried to insist she as wasn't drawing any parallels, Raab added: "I am energetic and restless to do the kinds of reforms that we've just been talking about. I keep in mind victims - and those are the ones I am here to serve and I will continue to do that. I won't allow my focus to be distracted from it."

While Raab took exception to Kate's remark, viewers flocked to Twitter to champion her, with one tweeting: "What an evil little worm Raab is! Well done Kate, for calling him out on it!" A second posted: "Dominic Raab calls Kate Garraway 'unconscionable' as she quizzes him on bullying claims but Raab is guilty of serial bullying & that's a fact!"
