A four-day gluten-free extravangza is taking place at a Notts pub to celebrate beers suitable for people with coeliac disease. The Poppy & Pint in Lady Bay will be holding the event from Thursday January 19 to Sunday January 22.
Castle Rock Brewery will be relaunching Session, a juicy pale beer that's available at all of its pubs- kicking off the weekend with the announcement that it is now certified 'gluten-free'. Officially hitting bars from January 19, the draught beer has had the accreditation for several months now but the brewery wanted to keep the news quiet to give customers a chance to provide feedback on the new recipe.
From Friday 20, the pub, in Pierrepont Road, will be holding a ‘Battle of the Gluten-Free Breweries’ – with at least eight gluten-free beers gracing the taps from Shiny Brewery and Triple Point Brewery. Alongside the gluten-free takeover on the bar, the kitchen will also be offering a number of gluten-free dishes, including a specially curated menu of main meals, street food, and sides.
Castle Rock will also be brewing a series of session IPAs throughout 2023, all of which will be gluten-free and vegan, and available in cask – meaning at any one time Castle Rock will always have at least two gluten-free beers available.
