The finalists of the GloucestershireLive Business Awards 2022 have been decided. The annual awards, which are run in association with BusinessLive, have been celebrating the best of business in the county for nearly a quarter of a century.
Competition this year was fierce; there were 140 entries, with businesses from all sectors - from tech to engineering to retail to manufacturing - submitting nominations. There were a range of categories available this year, including two new ones - the Sustainability Award and the Charity of the Year.
Despite a challenging year for business, amid rising inflation and economic uncertainty, many firms have been quick to adapt and innovate - and as a result are thriving. It’s these efforts we will be celebrating at the awards ceremony at Cheltenham Racecourse on October 13.
The finalists were decided by a panel of judges who gathered at returning headline sponsor Randall & Payne’s offices in Shurdington to review the entries and decide the shortlists
The judges included:
- Tim Watkins, managing partner - Randall & Payne
- Ian Mean MBE, director of Gloucestershire Chamber - Business West
- Angela Edwards, director - Circle 2 Success
- Suzanne Hall-Gibbins, director - Circle 2 Success
- Sam Holliday, development manager - FSB
- Nick Gazzard, chief executive - Hollie Gazzard Trust (Partner)
- Kirstie Carr, director and head of wills, trusts and probate - WSP Solicitors
- Michael Noel Gardiner, chairman - EESI Limited
- Matthew Hatton, branch manager - Steve Gooch
- Tom Gooch, director - Steve Gooch
- Greg Godfrey-Williams, UK supply general manager - Spirax Sarco
- Phil McCormick AIWSc FFB, owner and managing director - Nicks Timber
- Alison Woodhead, managing consultant - ClientsEye
- Hannah Baker, South West editor - BusinessLive/GloucestershireLive/Reach plc
- Dawn Burke, principal - Newent Community School
- Trudy Hillier, technical apprenticeship programme manager - SGS College
- Elizabeth Dick, operations and partner manager - Cyber Security Associates
Following more than two hours of discussions, the finalists for each category were drawn up.
Tim Watkins, head judge and managing partner of Randall & Payne, said: “It was great to see so many entries this year and many from those that had either not entered for some time or hadn’t entered before. There was plenty of lively debate amongst the judges and the process was as rigorous as ever so the winners can be sure their awards are well earned!”
The awards’ charity partner this year is the Hollie Gazzard Trust , which was set up following the murder of 20-year-old Hollie Gazzard in 2014 by her ex-partner.
The charity was founded by her parents, Nick and Mandy, along with sister Chloe, and works to reduce domestic violence by delivering programmes on domestic abuse and promoting healthy relationships to schools and colleges.
It runs workshops, including intervention workshops, and events throughout the year. We will be fundraising for the charity on the night of the awards dinner.
Tickets to the awards cost £80 (plus VAT) per person or £720 (plus VAT) for a table of 10. To book, visit the event website.
