Apprentices in Gloucestershire are being encouraged to enter the GloucestershireLive Apprenticeship Awards 2022 and have their achievements recognised.
The awards ceremony, which is run by GloucestershireLive in association with BusinessLive, is a chance celebrate outstanding apprentices for their hard-earned achievements - and thank the businesses helping them succeed.
The awards recognise excellence across a wide range of sectors, with the overall GloucestershireLive Apprentice of the Year selected from all the winners on the night of the event. An award for Outstanding Contribution to Apprenticeships in Gloucestershire will also be presented at the ceremony, which takes place on Thursday, September 22, at Kingsholm Stadium in Gloucester.
Renishaw, which is sponsoring the Employer of the Year category for 2022, has had a record 80 people join its apprenticeship schemes this year across 15 disciplines, including building maintenance and, for the first time, plumbing.
Chris Pockett, head of communications at Renishaw, said: “Apprentices bring new thinking, a different approach, energy and enthusiasm which are some of the things we are looking for. We've had such a good experience with apprenticeships and apprentices over many years that it seems to make sense, especially at a time of increasing skills shortages and difficulty recruiting to train your own people and develop them and that’s what an apprenticeship does."
SGS College is supporting the construction category for 2022. Sarah Stephens-Lewis, head of faculty for apprenticeships, added: "SGS College nurtures personal and social development through working with apprentices to upskill their problem solving, critical thinking and positive attitude to learning and employment, preparing them for their future career with high aspirations."
Entries for the awards are open until June 27. To submit a nomination and to find out more about entry requirements, visit the event's official website.
