Eight Chinese state-owned insurance companies and banks will raise up to a combined $54 billion from shareholders, led by the Ministry of Finance, in a major effort to strengthen their capital buffers, Reuters reported.
The move comes as Beijing seeks to reinforce financial stability and give large state-owned institutions greater capacity to support the broader financial system.
