Data shows the daily global average temperature rose more than 2C above the pre-industrial norm for this time of year, for the first time last week.
The EU’s climate change service said on Friday the temperature reached 2.07C above the temperature average for 1850-1900.
The UN said to keep the world's average temperature at no more than 1.5C above pre-industrial levels, there needs to be a 42% reduction in emissions by 2030.
In tech news: Elon Musk has filed a lawsuit against a watchdog group which claimed adverts on the X social media platform were appearing next to pro-Nazi content and hate speech.
Media Matters for America released their report last week alleging ads for brands such as Amazon, IBM, and NBCUniversal were appearing alongside material praising Nazis, leading to some brands pulling their ads from the platform.
In response, Lawyers for X claim that Media Matters for America manufactured the report to "drive advertisers from the platform and destroy X Corp".
Media Matters said on Monday that it stands by its reporting and expects to prevail in court.
In the UK: plans for London to have its own version of the Las Vegas MSG Sphere have been rejected by Mayor Sadiq Khan.
The almost 100m-tall venue, covered in powerful LEDS and with a capacity of 21,500, was proposed for the edge of the Olympic park in Stratford.
Light pollution and the development's green credentials were among the reasons it was rejected, but the Mayor’s rejection isn’t the final say; it will now pass to Communities Secretary Michael Gove for a final ruling.
Also in the UK, a new satellite is being built that will be used to monitor climate change and natural disasters.
The UK Space Agency’s putting £3 million into the project, and said it will provide "valuable and regularly updated data" on the planet.
It’ll also be used to detect, monitor and reduce the risk of natural disasters, and will even support UK industries like agriculture and energy.
