The Second Global Artificial Intelligence (AI) Summit, underway in Riyadh, witnessed Tuesday the launch of Tammayuz center, which belongs to the “Global AI Corridor” launched by Saudi Aramco in partnership with Beyond Limits, a US-based artificial intelligence company.
The center was floated in cooperation with the California Institute of Technology (Caltech).
Beyond Limits CEO AJ Abdallat told Asharq Al-Awsat that his company’s work is fundamentally different from similar companies in its sector because it provides practical and smart solutions for people to achieve and succeed in their business goals.
He highlighted the agreement between Saudi Aramco and Caltech on building a Global AI Corridor will link Riyadh to California, where the largest number of Nobel Prize winners, investors and innovators currently reside.
Saudi Arabia has become a pioneer in keeping pace with progress and supporting the economy in the region, he stressed.
Saudi Arabia is one of the first countries to consider the importance of AI and its use in several fields, added Abdallat.
Speaking about the AI summit in Riyadh, he said it was important for the entire region as AI will help in solving many of the problems the world is currently facing.
On global warming and climate change, he remarked that AI technology is already being used to send alerts to natural disasters in Japan, monitor deforestation in the Amazon, and design more environmentally friendly smart cities in China.
Abdallat also explained that AI can be used to design more energy-efficient buildings, improve energy storage, and enhance the deployment of renewable energy by feeding solar and wind energy into the electricity grid as needed.
On a smaller scale, AI can help households reduce their energy consumption, he noted.
Regarding the future of AI in providing more solutions to various daily and practical dilemmas, he said that one of the key benefits of AI is making solutions to impossible problems possible.
