Glitzy and Glamorous Holiday-Appropriate Hair Accessories Sure to Make the Season Bright

Bring on the glitz. (Credit: Courtesy of Prada)

Nothing says holiday party like a flashy piece of jewelry. Or, more specifically, hair jewelry. Frankly, we don't get to decorate our manes that often. Follicle-friendly trinkets are usually reserved for special occasions, like weddings or seasonal soirées. Since the latter are upon us, it's high time we select the glitzy hair accessories that'll take our festive outfits to next-level territory.

There are numerous types of hair jewelry. From headbands to barrettes to slides to combs and even ponytail holders, and those are only a paltry few, the choices are pretty stellar. You can even rock more than one accessory at a time if your holiday ensembles so demand. You can also decorate even a more laid-back outfit with a few strategically-placed hair pieces.

Gold and silver reign supreme. Metallics offer lots of shine and just feel so luxe. Back in the day, we would have told you to stick with one or the other. Now, much like double denim, mixing gold and silver is totally acceptable. (You also don't have to coordinate your hair jewelry with your other jewelry.) Black is another great holiday party-ready hue. Especially if it's embellished.

Fashion houses are great sources of (hair) bling. Prada has several sparkly options, but we're partial to the brand's logo-accented crystal hair clips. Khaite + Elhanati's clip projects an air of art deco realness. As expected, Simone Rocha offers plenty of pearl pieces, while Celine's golden hair claw makes any hairstyle look chic. The best part? You'll have these high-end creations in your beauty arsenal forever. They're that timeless.

If your holiday budget won't allow you to spring for a little designer bling, no worries. There are lots of lower-cost alternatives that'll still make an impact. Zara's floral headband is giving serious New Year's Eve vibes and will only set you back $45.90. Mango's $39.99 crystal hairband supplies just enough shine or go with Loeffler Randall's $70 braided take if you're more of a golden girl.

Keep scrolling to see the best glitzy hair accessories guaranteed to up the ante on any holiday party look. They also make awesome gifts with some serving as possible stocking stuffers.
