Yankees second baseman Gleyber Torres is on a nice little hot streak. Over his last five games (starting last Saturday), Torres is batting .350 with two home runs and three RBIs. In Wednesday’s 12–6 win over the Twins, he went 2-for-5 with a homer and a double. And for some reason, one Yankees doubted that he could replicate that performance.
“If Gleyber Torres homers tonight, I’ll get a bowl cut,” a Twitter user named Jakob posted before New York’s game against the Rangers on Thursday night.
And wouldn’t you know it, in the top of the second inning, Torres hit an absolute laser beam to dead center that left that bat at 111 mph.
Jakob also posted a screenshot of the tweet on their Instagram story, trying to backtrack on the bet, saying that if Torres responded to the Instagram post, they wouldn’t follow through. But not so fast. Torres did respond, and not in the fashion Jakob wanted.
Not me getting absolutely bagged by Gleyber Torres on Insta 💀😭🤣😂 pic.twitter.com/GkynH8q66v

“Make sure you do it,” Torres wrote. “You have to keep promises.”
Even the Yankees got in on the act, drawing attention to Torres’s response.

Sorry, Jakob. You’ve got no choice but to go to the barber now. The Yankees are really particular about haircuts.
