A coin seller has put up a 'rare' £2 coin from 2006 up on eBay and is hoping to sell it for £79.99 with people across Glasgow now urged to check their pockets.
The coin, which is said to have a circulating mintage of 7,928,250, shows a portrait of Isambard Kingdom Brunel, an English mechanical and civil engineer whose designs revolutionised public transport and modern engineering.
According to ChangeChecker, he is "best remembered for the network of tunnels, bridges and viaducts constructed for the Great Western Railway as well as the Clifton Suspension Bridge which crossed the River Avon.

"This reverse design commemorates the 200th anniversary of his birth in 1806 and features a portrait of Brunel against a section of the Royal Albert bridge, wearing a top hat with a trademark cigar in his mouth."
The edge inscriptions on the rare two pound coin reads: "1806-1859 ISAMBARD KINGDOM BRUNEL ENGINEER", with the coin titled "Queen Elizabeth II £2: Brunel - Portrait."
The coin has not yet sold so there is time to purchase it if you are a keen coin collector.
Coins of all sorts are being sold for more than their face value, so it's worth checking your spare change, your pockets and behind the sofa as you could be sitting on a fortune.
Just recently a Glasgow local has cashed in on their loose change after managing to sell a rare 50p coin on eBay for an eye-watering sum of £10,000.
The coin, a Brexit 50p released to mark the UK's exit from the EU, was sold on February 6. Described as being a 'very rare find' by the seller, the coin was launched on the date of Brexit on January 31, 2020 with "Peace, Prosperity and Friendship With All Nations" written on it.
