Glastonbury tells festivalgoers not to bring disposable vapes

Glastonbury festival organisers have asked revellers not to bring disposable vapes due to their impact on the environment.

Ahead of the iconic festival later this month, organisers have updated their “what to bring” and “what not to bring” lists. Last year, disposable vapes could be purchased on-site.

“Do not bring disposable vapes,” the guidance reads. “They pollute the environment and can be hazardous at waste centres.”

It is unclear if vapes will be confiscated from people if they are found at the event. Glastonbury festival has been asked to clarify the policy.

Electronic vapes contain materials that are pollutants and never fully decompose, and are classed as Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment.

Many are thrown away, and although they can be recycled, it is incredibly difficult to do so.

The festival has always looked to encourage sustainability and prides itself on promoting a green environment.

In keeping with their green credentials, festivalgoers have also been asked not to bring non-biodegradable body glitter, avoid excess packaging and the use of disposable wipes.

Glastonbury runs from June 21 and 25, with Arctic Monkeys headlining on Friday, followed by Guns N’ Roses and Elton John on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Other acts include Lizzo, Christine And The Queens, Fatboy Slim, Lana Del Rey, Lewis Capaldi, Lil Nas X, Maneskin, Rudimental, Manic Street Preachers, The War On Drugs and Royal Blood.
