Glastonbury Festival 2023: Fans convinced popular act will return after 'gutting' cancellation

Glastonbury Festival fans think The Chemical Brothers could be returning to this year. The electronic duo was forced to cancel a Worthy Farm show last year - but some music lovers are now convinced they will return to complete "unfinished business" this June.

The Chemical Brothers - known for hits like Hey Boy Hey Girl and Galvanize - called off their scheduled show at Glastonbury's Arcadia stage in 2022 after band member Tom Rowlands contracted COVID-19. Festival-goers were left "absolutely gutted" at the last-minute cancellation, reports Somerset Live.

Despite the first Glastonbury Festival 2023 line-up poster not featuring the popular English act, some fans think the band could still play. Eagle-eyed Twitter users have spotted a gap in the act's touring schedule.

The Chemical Brothers are set to play in Cork, Ireland, on Wednesday, June 21. Their next date is then eight days later on Thursday, June 29, in Finland.

Glastonbury Festival 2023 takes place between June 21 and June 25. This means The Chemical Brothers would have plenty of time to potentially stop off in Pilton.

Speaking about the prospect of a Glastonbury Festival return for The Chemical Brothers, Twitter user Steven Willett said he was "hopeful". Another festival fan on Twitter, Stevie Holmes, added: "Goodness, if that happens I think I might explode with pleasure".

Organisers have already announced around 55 acts set to play across its stages, of which there are more than 100 set up on Worthy Farm in the Somerset hills. The Pyramid headliners were confirmed as Arctic Monkeys, Guns and Roses and Elton John, who was already announced - a men-led line-up that was met with criticism by those questioning the lack of women artists.

The first stage at Glastonbury Festival to confirm its full line-up of 24 acts is West Holts featuring artists from all over the world. The stage is known for its brilliant amalgamation of sounds and rhythms - and is one of the biggest stages on site - home to the most lauded names in jazz, electronica, reggae, R&B, rap and beyond.

A Bristol hip-hop three-piece originally formed by schoolmates over a decade ago has landed a spot on the Glastonbury line-up after winning the final of the First Pilton Stage Competition. Based in the South West, The Scribes consist of lyricist/producer Ill Literate, rapper Jonny Steele and beatboxer Lacey who said that despite having played many festivals in the past, "Glastonbury really is on another level" and that the news has left them in a state of "incredulous excitement."
