Glastonbury Festival 2023: Eye-watering cost rich revellers are paying for helicopter taxi to event

We all know that festival season can mean queuing - a lot of it. And it's not just to get onto the festival site but traffic on the roads, and even packed trains and buses. But while thousands are fighting their way through the masses, the rich and famous are able to dodge all the mayhem, but how?

Many A-list performers and guests will use the VIP air-taxi service this year to travel from London to a helipad right next to the festival grounds, where they will have a short car ride to the destination. Flights from the capital will only take approximately 45 minutes, a small chunk of time in comparison to those queuing to get in.

One of the companies offering these VIP helicopter flights to the festival next month are Get Heli, a private charter helicopter company offering flights to big events across the country throughout the year. Fitting up to six people, a return from London to Glastonbury will cost passengers between £2,580 and 11,500, according to their website.

Get Heli told Somerset Live: "Arriving at Glastonbury by air is the fastest solution for a VIP entrance. Chartering a helicopter for the festival allows you to travel to Glastonbury from London in under an hour avoiding all traffic and queues.”

"Our trusted providers offer a smooth and luxurious flight from anywhere in the UK. We will guarantee the ultimate festival travel experience."

While Get Heli runs from the capital to the festival ground, a “Bristol Shuttle Service” will also be in operation for the duration of the festival. Companies Polo Aviation and Fly Glastonbury, ‘an enterprise run by a neighbouring landowner’, will offer short flights from Bristol to the festival site in Pilton.

All air travel to and from the festival will operate between 8am and 8pm every day of the festival.

There is now just one month to go until 200,000 revellers descend on Worthy Farm for the five-day event. Music legends Arctic Monkeys, Guns N’ Roses and Elton John have all been named as the headliners for this year's Glastonbury Festival.

Indie kings Arctic Monkeys will headline Friday, which will be their third time closing the Pyramid stage. While rock legends Guns N’ Roses were booked when a previously confirmed female headliner reportedly pulled out.

Emily Eavis told the Guardian: “They’ll be brilliant and provide something totally different to the rest of the headliners.”

Other acts on the bill include Lizzo and Aitch, as well as Slowthai, Royal Blood, Becky Hill, Blondie and plenty more too.

This year’s lineup also includes debut performances from the Eurovision winners Måneskin, the Brit-winning girl band Flo and the US country stars the Chicks. Lil Nas X are making a comeback, while Lana Del Rey will headline the Other stage.
