A heavy rain shower fell on revellers at Glastonbury Festival this morning. But it won't dampen the spirits of the thousands of people who have been waiting three years to party at the world's greatest live music event.
One festival-goer told Bristol Live: "The rain was ‘mad’ because it was hot and sunny 20 minutes ago." There is a full day of gigs ahead at the festival as performers take to the main stages.
And the Met Office is predicting more showers for this afternoon when downpours are likely between 2pm to 3pm. But there's good news for tonight's headliner, Sir Paul McCartney, as sunshine is expected from 9pm. Sir Paul will become Glastonbury Festival’s oldest solo headliner. His set comes a day after Billie Eilish became the youngest ever solo artist.

Sir Paul's headline show today (June 25, 2022) will come exactly a week after he celebrated his 80th birthday and more than 60 years of making music. Ahead of his history-making set on the Pyramid Stage, Sir Paul delivered a surprise preview performance at an intimate venue in Frome, Somerset, where he played some of his best-known solo material.
This is the first Glastonbury Festival since 2019 after the event was cancelled two years in a row due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This year's headlines include Billie Eilish, Sir Paul McCartney, Kendrick Lamar, Diana Ross and many more top acts.
