Glastonbury 2023 Co-op shop prices, location and what you can buy there

Hundreds of traders are welcoming their first customers at Worthy Farm today as the gates for Glastonbury Festival open. Crowds of Glasto-goers have been exploring the massive site after setting up their tents, with more than 800 stalls to look around.

Along with the many food traders serving up delicious food from around the world, and produce local to Somerset, there are rows of shops packed with eye-catching clothes, accessories and essentials. The biggest, however, is the pop-up Co-op supermarket spanning 6,000 sq ft.

By early this afternoon there was already a long but fast-moving queue to get inside the shop, which is located near the Other Stage and the Park Home Ground. The chain has said it will stock more than 250 traditional supermarket food, drink and other products such as sun cream and medicines, but it won't be selling alcohol.

Inside shoppers can find aisles set out just like their normal supermarket, with a fridge section, freezer section and even a row of self-serve tills. One of the cheapest lunch choices to buy at Glasto will be the Co-op sandwiches, which start in price from £1.95 for cheese and onion, although most fillings we spotted were still upwards of £4.

You can also grab the meal deal of a sandwich, drink and snack for £6, or £5.50 with a Co-op loyalty card, but there are also lots of food vendors offering a £6 meal deal this year - more than 300 stallholders will be displaying a meal deal sticker on their menu boards, offering a £6 food option for a more affordable choice.

Among the other prices we noted in store were:

  • £2.40 for six eggs
  • £1.50 for a mini carton of milk
  • £2.80 for a big carton of orange juice and other fruit juices
  • £2.75 for a pack of four toilet rolls
  • £1.50 for a loaf of bread (white or brown)
  • £2.65 for a four pack of pain au chocolat
  • £2.40 for a bag of ice
  • £3.85 for a large bag of crisps
  • £2.95 for a packet of chocolate digestives
  • £1 for a small can of water (the supermarket does not sell plastic bottles of water, but it does sell refillable metal ones that you can refill for free around the site)

For revellers arriving who have realised they have forgotten a key essential - their toothbrush - it's bad news. The only toothbrush we could find in store was a fancy-looking bamboo one, which was priced at £4.75.

And if you run low on cereal and want something sweet to start your day, then a big box of Krave will set you back £5.85. The sun lotion is also not cheap, priced at £7 for a 200ml of Nivea SPF50 or £9.50 for the SPF30.

Opening times

According to the Co-op, the shop will be open during the following hours:

  • Wednesday campsite opening – 12 noon - 3am
  • Thursday 7am - 3am
  • Friday 7am – 3am
  • Saturday 7am – 3am
  • Sunday 7am – 3am

Many shoppers were heading for the fruit section where there were punnets of blueberries, raspberries and strawberries for sale as well as two-packs of apples, and loose bananas. The price was 59p for a loose orange, or £4 for a bigger box of satsumas.
