While many are looking forward to Glastonbury 2022 and have likely already planned how they're going to make their way to the festival site, there are some other factors that need to be considered.
Unfortunately, the festival will coincide with the RMT union train strikes which will take place on June 21, 23 and 25. This means that there will be significant disruption to all train services across the country which could result in some difficulty getting to the festival.
Despite this, Great Western Railway (GRW) has taken some precautions such as maintaining a timetabled train service between Castle Cary and London Paddington throughout the whole festival. If any issues do arise from train alterations, Glastonbury will notify all customers who already booked seats on affected trains.

While issuing a warning to its customers, GWR has provided advice for people wanting to travel by train. It said: "We recommend customers who have already bought their train tickets between London and Castle Cary should check that amended plan before either changing their travel arrangements or submitting a refund request for their train ticket.
"Other parts of the GWR network are likely to be more affected by the strike action and customers may need to consider alternative ways to travel to a station serving Castle Cary. Customers travelling from outside the GWR network should check connecting services with their local train operator."
In a statement on its website, Glastonbury said: "Other parts of the rail network are likely to be more affected by the strike action and customers may need to consider alternative ways to travel to a station serving Castle Cary. We do anticipate that there may be additional traffic heading to the site next week, and would advise drivers of the following:
- As usual, car parks will open at 9pm on Tuesday, allowing Festival-goers to arrive throughout the night, when traffic volumes are low. There will, however, be no entertainment or facilities (other than toilets) in the car parks and Festival-goers will be expected to remain in their cars until the Festival gates open at 8am on Wednesday morning. Please bring a reusable bottle of water with you, to stay hydrated while you are waiting.
- The quietest times to arrive by car are between 9pm on Tuesday evening and 4am on Wednesday morning.
- The busiest times to arrive are from 4am to 12noon on Wednesday.
- Traffic is likely to be flowing more freely after 5pm on Wednesday. Those choosing to arrive on Wednesday evening or on Thursday / Friday are likely to experience less traffic, and there will still be camping space available (stewards at the gates can advise where)."
