The UK was represented well at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night – with Glass Animals, Ed Sheeran and The Rolling Stones scooping top gongs on the night.
The glitzy ceremony was hosted by music legend Sean 'Diddy' Combs at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas with the biggest names in music turning up to perform, present and pick up their awards.
With dozens of categories to get through on the night, there were some huge winners – with some artists picking up multiple gongs on the night.
However, a few trophies went to UK performers – with chart topping band Glass Animals scooping the Top Rock Artist award triumphing over the band Imagine Dragons, solo artist Machine Gun Kelly, Eurovision icons Maneskin and alt rockers Twenty One Pilots.
The band's single Heat Waves was also nominated for the Top Viral Song and Top Streaming Song but lost out to Doja Cat's song Kiss Me More and The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber single Stay, respectively.
Taking to Instagram following their Top Rock Artist award win, the band wrote: "We won!!! For the longest climb to number 1 ever ha!"
Glass Animals were also up for the Top Duo/Group award, but lost out to BTS.
Ed Sheeran also won on the night, scooping the Top Billboard Global (Excl. U.S.) Artist award – out stripping BTS, fellow Brit Dua Lipa, Olivia Rodrigo and Canadian singer The Weeknd for the gong.
And The Rolling Stones defeated The Eagles, Genesis, Green Day, Fall Out Boy and Weezer and Harry Styles to scoop the Top Tour award.
The biggest winner on the night was 19-year-old singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo who scooped an impressive seven awards.
She took home the Top New Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Streaming Songs Artist, Top Billboard Global 200 Artist, and the Top Radio Songs Artist awards.
She also beat off Adele in two categories – winning over her for both the Top Female Artist award and the Top Billboard 200 Album award.
Drake was also a big winner on the night scooping the Top Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Rap Artist, Top Rap Male Artist and the Top Rap Album awards.
Meanwhile Taylor Swift won the Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Country Artist, Top Country Female Artist and Top Country Album awards.
Music legend Mary J. Blige was honoured on the night as she was awarded the Icon Award.
There was some controversy on the night of the awards as Travis Scott made his return to the spotlight – performing on TV for the first time since the Astroworld Festival disaster of November last year.
Some viewers took issue with the artist being given a spotlight following the tragedy, but show host Diddy, who invited Travis to perform, argued: “One of the things I’m doing is uncanceling the canceled. That’s breaking news because people haven’t been about uncanceling. Canceling is a trend that needs to stop.”
