The death of a woman at a flat in Glasgow is linked to the ongoing search for a missing person at Mugdock Country Park, police have confirmed.
Emergency crews descended onto a property on Jura Street in the Craigton area of the city after receiving a concern for person call at 8.40am on Tuesday, April 25.
Medics attended and, on arrival, the body of a 35-year-old woman was found within. Officers are currently treating her death as unexplained with enquiries ongoing.
A large-scale search operation is also underway at Mugdock Country Park, near Milngavie in East Dunbartonshire, with cops treating it as linked to the death. Officers were seen swarming the woodland at around 11am yesterday, with a Police Scotland helicopter and dog units also in attendance.
Images from the scene show a large section close to an entrance of the park taped off as the search operation continues. Officers remain in attendance at both sites today.
Detective Chief Inspector Cheryl Kelly said: “We were made aware of concern for a woman at a property on Jura Street in Glasgow shortly after 8.40am on Tuesday, April 25. Officers attended and the body of a 35-year-old woman was found within.
“Her death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries remain ongoing. Officers have been carrying out extensive searches of Mugdock Country Park in relation to a missing person in the area.
“This is being treated as linked to the death at Jura Street and enquiries remain ongoing. Our thoughts are very much with everyone affected by this tragic incident.
“There is not believed to be any risk to the wider public but anyone with information or concerns can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 0904 of April 25. A police presence will remain at both locations as enquiries continue and anyone with information is also urged to speak to any of our officers.”
