Glasgow weather: When will the rain stop as the Met Office issues dreich forecast

It has been pretty miserable lately and as we head into the colder season, we can't really be surprised with many people now staying inside to avoid the wild weather.

Today has seen some dry spells however as we head closer towards the end of the day, the wind and rain have picked up.

So when can we expected the weather to calm down a little and can we expected to see the sun any time soon? Here's what the Met Office says.

According to forecasters, the rest of today will see many rain shower with the current chance of precipitation at 95 per cent. This will remain like this for the rest of the night with it coming down slightly to 90 per cent and later on in the evening, around 8pm, coming down to 40 per cent.

The following day (October 10) will also remain cold however there will be largely sunny spells for much of the day with less than a five per cent chance of rain.

The low chance of rain is set to last for a few days before picking back up again on Wednesday (October 12) where it will go from less than 10 per cent all the way up to 50 per cent.

So what does the weather look like for the week ahead? Here's what you can expect.

This Evening and Tonight

Rain, heavy at times, clears Argyll from late evening, these drier conditions spreading southeast later. Then clear spells and showers spreading southwest later. Strong southerly winds turning westerly and easing. Minimum temperature 6C.

Monday

A bright, rather cool day with a mix of sunny spells and showers, the showers heaviest and most frequent through the morning. Breezy. Maximum temperature 13C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday

Rather unsettled Tuesday and Wednesday with showers or longer spells of rain, the best of any brighter conditions in east. Dry and bright Thursday but rain spreading east later.
