Glasgow weather forecast for February half term as Met Office expects dreich week ahead

The February half term holidays are fast approaching and soon kids across Glasgow will be off school. The mid term break starts on February 13 (Monday) and lasts three days with kids heading back for two days on Thursday before they're off again for the weekend - and in that time, people will be looking for things to do.

If you are planning on heading outside, you may want to work your plans around the upcoming weather with the Met Office issuing a rather dreich forecast.

So far this month, the weather hasn't been the best, although as we get closer to spring, things will eventually pick up and we will start to see the sun more often. But for now, that is on hold with rain and clouds looming over us.

Temperatures will just hit double figures and despite it being cold, thankfully we are not yet seeing sub-zero conditions this week.

But what does the weather look like during those three days? Here is what the Met Office has to say.

Monday February 13

According to the Met Office, it is set to be overcast for the whole day. Temperatures are set to remain much the same as they have done over the last week. Highs of 8C and lows of 4C.

Tuesday February 14

This day is set to get a little brighter, you'll be glad to know. On this day there will be highs of 9C and lows of 2C, with the Met Office saying despite a cloudy morning, we should see sunny intervals in the afternoon.

Going into exact times, the sunny intervals are expected between 8am-9am as well as 2pm-5pm.

Wednesday February 15

On the in-service day, it's set to be cloudy yet again with highs of 10C and lows of 4C.

This day is looking bright yet again with sunny intervals expected. This should occur between 8am and 11am. However, it will soon turn dreich with rain set to batter the city.

From 12pm, until the early hours of Thursday morning, you may want to stay indoors with the majority of the heavy rain falling between 9am and 1pm.

Glasgow's Met Office long ranging forecast, February 13-22

In their long-range forecast the weather experts say: "Monday is expected to be a largely dry day. Some patchy fog and frost initially, but this clearing to broken cloud, allowing sunny spells to develop across much of the UK. However, some patchy rain likely along coasts and hills in the northwest. Into mid-week, the south and southeast are likely to remain dry, but the far north and west probably seeing rain at times, which may extend a little further south and east with time.

"Further into the period, a transition away from higher pressure in the south allows for more unsettled conditions to become widespread across the UK. Temperatures generally mild, although potentially cold in the south overnight, especially earlier in the period."
