Glasgow van set on fire as police probe early-morning blaze on residential street

An early-morning van fire in Glasgow has sparked a police investigation.

Emergency crews were called to Scalpay Street in Milton on Monday morning. Police were 'made aware' of a 'vehicle fire' in the area at around 6.40am.

An image from the scene, shared with Glasgow Live, shows one van totally destroyed as a result of the blaze. The burnt out motor appears to be parked halfway down the sloped, grassy area that sits between Scalpay Street and Liddesdale Road.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) sent one appliance to extinguish the inferno and make the area safe. No casualties were reported.
