Glasgow trains halted as emergency services rush to concern for person at station

Railway services between Glasgow and Edinburgh have been halted after emergency services rushed to concern for a person on the line at Springburn.

Officers say they were called to the Broomfield Road area of Glasgow around 2pm on Monday March 28 amid concern for a woman.

Police remain at the scene and the road is currently closed.

Services travelling between the two cities via Falkirk Grahamston and Cumbernauld have been replaced with buses after Network Rail closed the line to allow emergency services to access the area.

Scotrail said in a tweet: "Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident between Springburn and Robroyston the line is closed.

"Our services between Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh via Falkirk Grahamston and Cumbernauld will be diverted.

"I'll update you all as soon as I can."

The rail operator has since arranged alternate transport at Glasgow Queen Street and Camelon to call at stops via Springburn.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police were called to the Broomfield Road area of Glasgow, around 2pm on Monday, 28 March, following concern for a woman.

"Officers remain at the scene and the road is currently closed.”
