Three young up-and-coming chefs are bringing a taste of New Orleans to the south side.
Matthew Major, Ryan Wood, and Kieron Mullen have put the finishing touches on their exciting new launch at the top end of Victoria Road heading toward town in the unit that formerly housed Nanika.
Ryan and Keiron, who are originally from Glasgow, have teamed up with friend Matthew, who moved to the city five years ago to study professional cookery from Ardross in the Highlands.
The trio was inspired by Matthew's lifelong passion for soul food.

Ryan came up with the acronym NOLA which is short for New Orleans Louisiana, while the soul refers to the dishes such as Gumbo, Shrimp n' grits, biscuits and gravy, homemade fries, collard greens, beignets, chicken wings, and fried chicken burgers they'll be cooking up in the kitchen.
"We have been perfecting our recipes and our dishes for a few years now," explained Matthew. "I've been cooking soul food since I was a kid which is where the idea came from.
"We are so excited to be opening. We have worked really hard to get to this point, and we can't wait to open our doors and welcome our first customers.
"Expect hearty and delicious New Orleans-style soul food at an affordable price with everything made from scratch - from the buns to the pickles."
Serving up chicken that is halal, they added that they will have plenty of vegan and vegetarian options, with Ryan adding that they have tried to "implement as many plant-based options as possible" including fried cauliflower and mushroom burgers in a 'fried chicken' style coating.
The trio added they will be serving up refreshing iced teas too – ideal for the summer.
Keiron added: "We all have worked in a variety of places, from rosette fine dining to gastropubs. We are really passionate about serving really fresh and tasty food for an affordable price. We are so excited to bring this concept to Glasgow and we feel it's quite unique and hopefully will be popular."
Confirming that they'll be open from this Saturday, May 27, they plan to open 12 pm until 10 pm Tuesday to Saturday and 12 pm to 8 pm Sundays.
"Once up and running we will be offering daily specials also," confirmed Matthew. "We love the community spirit around the Southside and we feel this makes it the perfect home for our soul food concept."
